OSTERIA MARZIA
Song of the Mediterranean Sea

Inspired by the luminous, aqua blues of the Mediterranean Sea and Italy’s maritime heritage, Osteria Marzia is an elegant and cosy seafood restaurant that evokes the mood and flavours of the Southern Italian coast.

From the street, glimpses of the restaurant’s light-filled interior beckon through full-height glazed windows.

The sea is also expressed in the maritime signal flags and fire coral motifs of the restaurant’s logo and branding graphics.

Accommodating up to 50 guests in an intimately-scaled, bistro-like bar and dining area, the space recalls interiors of regal European sailing ships, bringing the spirit of voyage and exploration to life in a thoroughly contemporary way.

At the entrance, a teak bar, which follows the curves of ship ribs, was constructed using boat-building techniques. The teak and frosted glass shelves hanging above the bar are informed by elements from lobster cages.

In the open-plan kitchen adjacent to the bar, a customised storage system cradles big silver bowls of lemons, thyme, rosemary and basil, perfuming the entrance foyer and bar with the scent of the Aeolian Islands.

In the main dining area, tables are fitted with reflective tops, which simulate the ocean’s shimmering surface, illuminating the restaurant space. Blue and white ceramic floors and coral-blue glazed tiles add classic Italian touches. A timber panel drop ceiling, white-painted bamboo panels that resemble boat decking, plenty of teakwood, navy blue banquets and bar stools all come together to create a modern nautical setting.

The narrow wall shared by the restaurant and The Fleming Hotel lobby is fitted with elongated, rectangular porthole windows, which visually connect the two spaces. Strikingly large spherical pendant lamps inspired by fishing lanterns and rope-secured buoys epitomize the sun’s brilliance and complete Osteria Marzia – a unique destination that celebrates the cuisine and sensuality of Mediterranean Italy.
